Ny Ged
Q. I have my G.E.D. I got a 302 on it. So I guess it's safe to say I know about as much as most people about mathematics. What I want to do is learn from the beginning on up. Yet I don't need to start with 1+1=2 and I don't expect to be able to compute combinatorials in my head. Are there any places online where I can go to learn in a progressive manner? I am learning to program in C. I know decimal, hex, octal and binary number systems. I want to learn more complex math but I don't understand half of the stuff I see that's labeled "advanced". Can anyone help?
A. I just spent (a few minutes per week for) the last three months finding video tutorials for my son who was trying to pass his NY GED. I am a whiz at math, he has a lot of trouble. Along the way, I found a remarkable number of tutorials which were too advanced for him. From your description of yourself, I would say that many of them would be fine for you. My advice--go to the nearest large library (in Rochester NY I used the downtown library) browse their continuing education video collection and sample them until you find the level(s in each category) you are comfortable with. Rochester's collection extended to SAT prep My son viewed two one hour math video's a week for nine weeks getting prepared for his GED.
