Q. I did go into your home page and download a copy of Ged-Mate. I was unable to do the one thing I was most interested in about your software. I wanted to print a fan chart but neither my HP IIP nor my HP855C could print them out. Will there ever be a version of the software that would print a fan chart from these two printers or am I asking for the impossible? I thought that a windows program could use the windows print manager which would allow the printing of almost anything. Do you have a list of the printers that WILL print the fan charts. What is the cost of having wall charts printed by Progeny Wall Charts? Can they also print the fan charts from a gedcom?
A. In response to overwhelming demand, we are now enhancing GED*Mate to print Fan Charts on popular printers, including ink jets (eg. HP DeskJet), older lasers (HP II), and dot matrix printers that support font rotation. Presently, GED*Mate uses HP-GL to generate Fan Charts. HP-GL is supported by plotters, and most recent laser jet printers (HP III, 4, 5 & compatibles). Wall charts (36" X 72") are available for $24.95 + $8 shipping for PAF*Mate and GED*Mate customers, or $33.95 + ship. from any GEDCOM. I use a Brother HL-600 Laser that emulates HP IIP, and after downloading a demo of GED*Mate (gm.exe file dated 23 July 1996) I have not been able to print the Fan Chart
